GE Freezers

Freezers that work

GE's prestigious history goes back to the late 19th century and Thomas Edison himself. GE is most likely one of the most recognizable names in the appliance industry, making it a popular choice when consumers are researching their freezer options.

GE took its place in refrigeration history with the manufacturer of the "Audiffren", and from this design, developed the first hermetric household refrigerators to be mass produced. Since then, GE has been one of the leaders in refrigeration innovation.

GE offers both upright and chest freezer models, along with a number of refrigerator freezers. GE also has a selection of wine coolers and beverage centers to choose from, as well.

Upright freezers

GE has 8 models to choose from in the upright category, from 5 to 20.6 cubic feet. The estimated yearly operating costs for these types of GE freezers cost $27 for the 5 cubic foot freezer to $63 for the largest model. You have your choice of manual defrost or self-defrosting models. Other features that may or may not be available depending on the model include:

  • adjustable temperature control
  • bulk storage basket
  • slide-out cabinet shelves
  • door shelves
  • lock
  • interior light

All 8 models come in white only, and range in price from $300 to $700 (manufacturer suggested retail price).

Chest freezers

With 7 models of chest freezers to choose from, GE offers a range of 5 to 25 cubic feet in volume. The estimated yearly operating costs for these types of GE freezers cost $20 for the 5 cubic foot freezer to $47 for the 25 cubic foot model. They are only offered in white with manual defrost and range in cost from $200 to $650 (manufacturer's suggested retail price).
